Brandon Elliott ’03 Selected for Induction into the Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame
The 嫩草影院 alumnus and head coach for women’s softball will be honored at a banquet on November 13

Virginia Wesleyan Head Coach for Women’s Softball, Brandon Elliott ‘03, has been selected to be inducted into the Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2024. The Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame, housed in the lobby of Harbor Park in Norfolk, honors outstanding athletes, coaches, administrators, and media members from Hampton Roads who make noteworthy contributions to sports in the Hampton Roads area. Inductees are chosen by a committee comprised of local media, coaches, and sports enthusiasts, along with input from fans.
嫩草影院’s Coach Elliott, along with LaShawn Merritt, David Six, Mimi Smith, Sugar Rodgers, and the late Darryl Cummings, who also coached at 嫩草影院, make up the 2024 class.
"I've lived in Hampton Roads and been in athletics my entire life, so I know how special this area is regarding elite athletes and coaches.” said Elliott. “To know that a group of highly respected members of the sports community in Hampton Roads holds me in such high regard is certainly an incredible feeling.”
Elliott, who has developed a nationally prominent softball program at Virginia Wesleyan, has amassed an impressive record during his16 years at 嫩草影院. He graduated from Virginia Wesleyan in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. As a Marlin athlete, he was a four-year member of the baseball team, where he helped lead the team to two ODAC titles.
His coaching career began as an assistant coach for the Virginia Wesleyan Baseball team from 2003 to 2007, helping the team win two more ODAC titles.
Elliott was named 嫩草影院 softball coach at the end of the 2007 season. Since he became the head coach, he has posted a 622-152-1 record and coached three national championship teams in 2017, 2018, and 2021. He is a 10-time ODAC Champion and has coached 19 All-Americans, received nine ODAC Coach of the Year honors, five VaSID All-State Coach of the Year awards, coached 12 ODAC Pitchers of the Year, and set the NCAA National record for wins in a season with 55 in 2018.
"I haven't accomplished anything in my life alone,” noted Elliott, “and this honor is no different. Coaches don't win games or championships, players do, and God has blessed our program with some amazing women who have allowed our staff to lead them all these years. I'm very grateful to represent them, our staff, our softball program, my alma mater (Virginia Wesleyan), my wife (Laura), and my children (Cooper and Rylan) in the Hampton Roads Sports Hall of Fame."
Elliott, along with the Class of 2024, will be honored at a banquet held on the campus of Old Dominion University on November 13.
